FabFeb 2021

Why does SGBC support “Fight4Freedom”?

In the past few years in February, SGBC has supported Restore Canada, a charity organization that provides care for homeless and vulnerable people, through “Coldest Night of the Year.” Since the fundraising event for Restore Canada has been moved to another month, we will be supporting Fight4Freedom this February. Through raising awareness for Fight4Freedom, we want to show Christ’s love to vulnerable people and to also care for one of the missionaries whom we have been supporting for many years, Gladys Mok.

What is Fight4Freedom?

Fight4Freedom is a Canadian non-profit charity organization existing to be an active voice and advocate of justice for women and men exploited by human trafficking in the form of sexual exploitation, and to further assist them in finding necessary support systems that will aid in their journey to safety, healing, and restoration.

Human trafficking is the recruiting, harbouring, and/or controlling of a person for the purpose of exploitation.

Four main arms of Fight4Freedom:

  1. Education: Presentations to schools, churches, service providers; research and events
  2. Outreach: to areas in Canada and South Asia where sexual exploitation occurs
  3. Aftercare: through housing, education, job skills, mentorship, wellness, basic needs
  4. Partnerships: with NGOs, police, lawyers, financial planners, counselors, churches, etc.

What is a person worth?

(Psalm 139:14) I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful; I know that full well.

What is FabFeb?

FabFeb is a Fight4Freedom’s annual campaign to raise awareness and funds for the efforts to end sex trafficking.

When is the campaign?

The entire month of February.

How to raise awareness?

FabFeb is about standing up and making an impact, and we believe that one of the best ways to do this is to stand out. Bold ribbons, lipsticks, and bowties stand to do just that.

When someone compliments or asks about your ribbon, lipstick, or bowtie, it is an opportunity to talk about why you are wearing it. We want to take the opportunity to tell as many people as possible about human trafficking. Use this chance to stand out as a way to raise awareness, to raise money, and to bring freedom to those exploited by sex trafficking!

Due to COVID, we recommend taking pictures during life group zoom meetings or individually and sharing on social media hashtag #fabfeb2021

Where does the money go?

Proceeds raised during the FabFeb campaign will go towards Fight4Freedom's survivor care program.

What is the target fundraising goal of the whole FabFeb campaign?

According to the FabFeb web site, the goal is $15,000. SGBC fundraising target is $5,000.
